Hello Everybody!

 Just gonna say that my blogging is gonna get a bit slow from now as some unexpected things has come up.

But anyway...

So, the other day a postman knocked on my door with a little parcel that I got from winning a small competition on twitter, which was just retweeting a tweet from @bookminxjv ,  and it was a book "Lucky" by Jackie Collins.

What a great feeling it is to be winning something. And I want to say thank you to @bookminxjv for putting me in a great mood :)

I must say that I never read anything by Jackie Collins, and I am looking forward to read this book.

EReader Vs Hardback

More and more popular are becoming digital format books. There are so many different EReaders out there, but how to choose the one for you? Honestly... I've got no idea... I don't even know how I had chosen my own one... I think I was just following my instincts...

I have 3 digital cameras bought by Sony, and none of them ever had disappointed me, so I guess I bought my EReader following my trust for the brand.

I suppose you should really asses your needs for the EReaders, what for you want to use them. For example my Sony Reader (PRS-T1) doesn't support Word Documents, so I guess it's a disadvantage if you're a student? I never really had a need for the Word Documents on it, but I heard that a lot of people would put manuscripts of their non released novels up on their blogs and websites. My EReader has an advantage of having a great PDF browser, so I can export my Word Documents as a PDF on it.

Another disadvantage is that page scrolling could be a little bit faster. I don't really notice it anymore, because I am really used to it, but whenever somebody pic up my Reader to look at it, it would be a first thing they would comment on.

I wouldn't buy a tablet to read books on it. A great advantage for ordinary readers is that they dont have a backlight on their screens, they are designed to look exactly as a page of your book. that way they don't harm your eyes.

I love how comfortable they are. I love reading books, lying in bed on my side, and it is really comfortable to hold the reader, instead of hurting your arms in awkward positions trying to hold them big books.
You can store hundreds of books, and if your in a long journey, it's great that you don't have to carry loads of books with you, incase if you run out of read. You can store hundreds and hundreds of books on the Reader.
It is very light and slim, it is very comfortable to carry in a small bag, because I quiet got tired of the big bags, I like having a small bag, where I can put my purse, phone, keys and a reader. And you are not carrying load of weight on you.

Ebooks are cheaper than hardbacks. Also there are a lot of websites and blogs where it is possible to download a lot of great free books. A lot of websites, have giveaways on free ebooks.
You save environment by saving trees.


Honestly my pleasure for book-reading  increased since I bought my Ereader, because it made it very comfortable to read for me. I can adjust my font sizes as I want, I can carry it in a small bag without carrying a lot of weight.
I remember when I bought it, I couldn't pick it up for ages, because I simply quiet couldn't switch from a normal book to something that is not a physical book, but once I started I would never go fully back.
I would still buy hardbacks, but only on massive sales and in second hand shops. It's nice to hold a book time after time.

It's a truly great purchase, you won't regret of buying it for yourself, It'll make your reading experience more enjoyable.

Books I read in March

So March has come to an end... Gosh I can't believe how time is going so fast. Somebody please slow it down a little bit!!

Hope You all had a good month and I hope your all set for the Easter.
Easter is my favorite festive, I think I enjoy it more than Christmas. We tend to do a lot of outdoor activity with family on Easter. The days are longer, the weather is getting warmer and it's all good :)

Today I am going to list books that I read in March.
All of them are a very good reads and they are worth to read. And I promise I am not gonna put spoilers, just little comments about them, and what I think of them :)

Most of my books I read on my Ereader so I'm sorry I don't have pictures of the hard back books.

"Gone Girl" by Gillian Flynn

It was both, terrible and amazing!

I loved this book so much, I'm not giving away anything, but I can ensure you, It is a must read!!!

I had a copy of this book for ages and I regret I didn't read it sooner.

I loved this book because it was so twisty, when you thought you know what's happening, it absolutely changed in 180 degrees and all the pages you read gained completely different meaning. It is a gripping story of the courtship and marriage of a narcissist and a sociopath who appear to be experiencing the normal setbacks of life during our recent financial meltdown. Each one alternates as a narrator so not only does the point-of-view shift but so does your allegiance.

This book has been named a choice book for 2012 in Goodreads.com, it is highly recommended by a lot of papers and magazines.

Do pick up the copy of this book if you want to read a very good book.

I also hear that they are working on a movie, and that Reese Whiterspoon is going to play Gone Girl, I'm actually happy, because she'd be the type I pictured when I was reading the book. I think she will do good in it! :) 

"Life of Pi" by Yann Martel

I must tell you out straight. I haven't seen the movie, but after reading this book I am really looking forward to watch the movie, because I loved the book so much. It's a total must read!!!

This book was very well written and you really have to use your imagination, and it is a really moving book which is great. It's an easy read, I read the book in two evening and a bit... :) I'd rate this book with 5 stars out of 5.

It's a book about survival, a 16 year old indian boy is surviving in the stranded lifeboat with a Bengal tiger named Richard Parker. I mean... a big tiger that could eat you alive any second! Imagine that!

I can ensure you, it is nothing like you ever read before, this book left me speechless for a good bit, I was just too moved by it. The ending was amazing, nothing that you could have imagined.

"The Fault In Our Stars" by John Green 

I must warn you... It is really sad. Hold some tissue near when your reading this book. You probably will cry. There was few parts in the book were my eyes got watery. Maybe just because I was reading it on the go, I couldn't afford to ruin the mascara on my eyes :)
It's a nice and easy read.  You will like it.... Perfect setting for reading this book would be by the fire or in the bath... and candles... and some chocolate. I don't know, whatever appears cosy for you :D

Can't really tell you much about this book without giving it away. The book is about the 16 year old girl who is living with a terminal illness, no one knows how long will her life last, much of her life has been spent preparing to die. And then she finds a friend and adventure begins. :) Aaaaaaah you should read it :D

When I was reading this book, I got my hands on more books by John Green, ratings on internet seem to be very good, so I really look forward to read more of his books.

"One Hundred Names" by Cecelia Ahern

Cecelia Ahern.... You must love her for her amazing ideas that she creates from every day little things and puts them  in to a  magical novels.

In start of February I won this book on twitter from Board Gais Energy Book Club ( @BGEBookClub ).

I simply had to answer in one tweet, why would I be the one to gets this book.

So here you can see my amazing winning answer :D

I received this book on a Valentines Day, and how happy it made me feel. Just the fact that I had won something is a great feeling. Doesn't happen often that you'd win something.

The first ever book I read in English was by Cecelia Ahern "Where Rainbows End", and I loved it so much because it was very close to what I was experiencing (the love that was not meant to be.... blah blah blah :D ), and maybe just the fact that it was first book I ever read in English made it so memorable for me still up to this day.

"One Hundred Names" have a great sparkle of magic, it's an easy read, very girly type of book. I think it's a great book if you would like to unwind your mind. This book has the ability to see goodness in other people as well as yourself.

I think it is worth to pick it up, if you're in to that kind of type of books.


"The Age Of Miracles" Karen Thompson Walker

If you want a good and quick read, this is definitely a good book to pick up. It has less than 300 pages, and it is really, different kind of end of the world book.

This book had a great scenario, there wasn't any kind of catastrophic natural disasters that were washing away all human kind... nah.... You just have to see it by your self  if I got u curious :) Throughout the book it left me with a lot of questions in my head, what would I do If it was happening, how would it change my life, where would I go, or stay... Would I carry on as normal or not....

It is hard to tell about this book without giving it away, so pick up the copy of it if your on a long journey on a train... Or you just like small books. :)

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo (Trilogy)

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo is a book from "Millennium" trilogy. It is written by Swedish author Stieg Larsson.

I must say that it took me 2 attempts to read it. 

1st time I started and I found it hard to get in to it, because there was too many details and foreign names to remember, usually I would finish book if I started, but it just happened that I put it away...

I cheated... 

I watched the American movie of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo and I loved it so much, that I picked up the first book and read all three of them in less than two weeks. I read it in Latvian.

I must say, I was amazed, it was perfectly written and there was action throughout the books, it was hard to put them away, harder to go to sleep at nights and easy to wake up early in the morning to read them...

The ending was perfect... I was amazed so much, that I found very hard to read books after, I needed a bit time to get over them, to get ready to meet the new book.

I would recommend to read it to everyone! I would recommend not to give up on it like I did the first time, It will get very good! Just give it a chance! Believe me it'll get amazing once your gone half way the first book!

At the moment I am trying to get my hands on Swedish version movies, I heard a lot of people saying that they are amazing, and that they have English voice over.

The trailers look good, watch the trailers and you will get the idea of the books.

My First Post :)

Hello Book Lovers!

My name is Alise, and I set up this blog to share my love for books.

I love books, I'd read anything if you tell me it's good. Recently I read few good books, and I came to realise that I have nobody to share my love with, as a lot of my friends don't read books. I don't blame them or judge them, we're all different and we all have our little things that makes us happy.

What makes me happy, is to head for a long walk or cycle or a drive, and stop in a scenic place to enjoy some packed lunch or a bar of chocolate, enjoy the nature, hear the birds singing, feel the warmth of the sunshine on my cheeks and to read few chapters of some good read.
Small things in life makes me really happy.

As this is absolutely new blog, I am going to improve it, I plan to have giveaways in future, have a book club where we all can share with our interests for books and become buddies :) I really hope you will help me to grow and improve this blog! :)
